Vegan Mac and Cheese Is Now at Nearly 100 Costco Merchants

This weekend, wholesale retailer Costco is growing a take-and-bake vegan mac and cheese to nearly 100 spots in the Southeastern location of the country. Chef Ayinde Howell’s Authentic Mac & Yease will be offered in 32-ounce trays in the ready meals part of retailers in Alabama, Florida, Ga, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Puerto Rico. 

Howell—the previous private chef for musician India.Arie—developed the now-well-known Mac & Yease recipe several several years back as a tribute to his terrific-grandmother Mary’s Sunday supper staple. “I’m so delighted that we get a opportunity to get this recipe out and for it to be in the South—that’s wherever the idea originated. My fantastic-grandmother, Mary Fluker, applied to make baked mac and cheese in St. Stephens, Alabama, and my father liked it so much that when he went vegan before I was born, he wished me to have it,” Howell
