LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Spain’s top rated diplomat pushed back again Friday against French cautions in excess of vacationing in the Iberian peninsula, as southern Europe’s holiday hotspots fret that recurring modifications to policies on who can go to is putting people off travel.

On Thursday, France’s secretary of state for European affairs, Clément Beaune, suggested people to “avoid Spain and Portugal as destinations” when reserving their holidays mainly because the French governing administration is considering constraints on vacation to the Iberian neighbors, where COVID-19 infections are surging.

Spanish Overseas Minister Arancha González Laya claimed the latest surge is not translating into extra hospitalizations and urged people today to be “proportionate” in their response to pandemic trends.
