Living in New England, near to Plimoth Plantation and Norman Rockwell’s iconic “Freedom from Want” painting, I could be tempted to think of this American holiday as only one of peaceful welcome, family gatherings, ample meals and football.

This year, for me and for all of us at Tauck, Thanksgiving means much more.

As travel has robustly returned in 2022, you – our valued patrons – traveled on thousands of trips in more than 60 countries on all seven continents. We saw your joy in your photos and videos. We met you with a warm welcome and delight. We cheered your excitement to be traveling again. You planned trips for 2023 and perhaps even 2024.

Hilton steadily adds to pipeline

Hilton Worldwide has recorded modest pipeline growth, with a quarter on quarter increase of 30 projects.

At the end of Q3 2022, the hotel group had more than 2,810 sites on the slate, 1% up on Q2’s total of 2,780.

Global progress

The same percentage increase was reflected in room count, with the total standing at 416,000 rooms as of 30 September, compared to 413,000 keys on 30 June.

Developments are scheduled throughout 112 countries and territories, including 29 countries and territories where Hilton does not currently have any existing hotels.

40% expansion

Of the rooms in the pipeline, 204,200 were under construction and 242,600 keys were located outside Hilton’s home US market.
